Easter celebrations in the year 1200! The Easter festival was the most important festival in the medieval Christian calendar. In the year 1200. William Marshal and his family are visiting Tintern to celebrate with the Cistercian monks, who will perform several of the medieval Easter services, including the blessing of the eggs. There will also be living history displays showing how people lived, the food they ate, and even the toys that medieval children played with.
On 24th – 26th May, visit our living history encampment with knights and craftspeople from the entourage of William Marshal. The early 13th-century abbot of Tintern and his monks will welcome the Marshal and his entourage, and the abbey will once again ring with the sounds of the medieval monastic offices.
