NORTH WALES

Hen Wrych Hall Tower  ABERGELE

Self Catering: Sleeps 2. The Tower is Grade II* listed and overlooks the 500-year-old Hen Wrych Hall, once home to the poet Felicia Hemans, whose famous poem was 'The Boy Stood On The Burning Deck'. A listed castellated limestone building, it is set into the original boundary wall of Gwyrch Castle. Lovingly renovated with oak beams, the property has many interesting internal features including a working open fireplace, heavily carved four-poster bed and Victorian-style bathroom. The nearest beach is a mere five minutes' walk and there is a golf course, walks within local woods and hills and Gwyrch Castle.

 

Bodelwyddan Castle Hotel, BODELWYDDAN

This dramatic castle is the setting for many of The National Portrait Gallery’s Victorian paintings. Gwydir Castle  LLANWRST

Gwydir Castle is situated in the beautiful Conwy Valley and is set within a Grade 1 listed, 10-acre garden. Built by the illustrious Wynn family c1500, Gwydir is a fine example of a Tudor courtyard house, incorporating re-used medieval material from the dissolved Abbey of Maenan. Gwydir offers Bed and Breakfast accommodation in two bedrooms, the 'King's Room' and the 'Duke of Beaufort's Chamber'.

 

Castell Deudraeth and Portmeirion Hotel  PORTMEIRION

Portmeirion is a private village resort on the coast of Snowdonia built by architect Clough Williams-Ellis from 1926 to 1976.  Castell Deudraeth is a contemporary styled hotel set in walled gardens with 11 rooms and suites and an informal brasserie specialising in local seafood. The main Hotel overlooks the estuary and is surrounded by around 50 cottages which make up the village, many of which also contain rooms and suites.
