NORTHUMBERLAND  

Chillingham Castle, CHILLINGHAM

At first a 12th century stronghold, Chillingham became a fully fortified Castle in the 14th century. This remarkable castle with its alarming dungeons and torture chamber has, since the 1200s, been continuously owned by the family of the Earls Grey and their relations. Part of the castle and the coach house have been converted into comfortable holiday apartments.

Garden Cottage, CORBRIDGE

Sleeps 5. This former gardener's cottage overlooks a lovely traditional country garden and has been tastefully restored and very comfortably furnished. Benefiting from its own peaceful garden and shared use of the owners' all-weather tennis court, it forms a wing on this beautiful estate. Situated only a ten-minute walk from the heart of picturesque Corbridge, set on the leafy banks of the River Tyne. Hadrian's Wall, historic Hexham, Newcastle and the Metro Centre only a short drive away. Good cafes, pub/restaurants and many shops ½ mile.

Beggars Roost, CRASTER

Sleeps 4. Overlooking the picturesque harbour of an unspoilt fishing village, this refurbished fisherman's cottage (dating from the 1830s) offers accommodation of a very high standard. It occupies an enviable seafront position, with sea views from all main rooms. A pub, tearoom and old smoke house (famous for Craster kippers) are all within walking distance, whilst a coastal footpath running alongside the cottage leads to the ruins of Dunstanburgh Castle.

Sleeps 8. The Mill House stands as a detached converted barn. This is an ideal choice for family holidays, with use of a very pleasant lawned area by a stream where visitors can enjoy barbecues. There is also shared use of the owners' hard tennis court nearby.  Just 4miles distant lies Budle Bay. Selection of shops in Belford (3miles). Nearest pub with restaurant  just 30yards. Guests may use the swimming-pool and sauna on site.

Cabenza  CLIFTON, YORK

Sleeps 4-6. This fine Victorian building has been renovated to form spacious and comfortable apartments. Situated on the outskirts of York, in the quiet suburb of Clifton near Rawcliffe Bar Park and Ride, this is an ideal location for discovering the historic city. The cobbled streets which wind through the walled city offer excellent shops, bars and restaurants. Within 30 miles lie the glorious Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. Local inn 500 yards.

Unique cottage accommodation beneath the chapel of an historic Grade I Listed castle on the edge of the village of Snape, some two miles west of Bedale, a gateway town to both the Yorkshire Dales and the North York Moors. The Undercroft, located beneath the chapel, has been very tastefully converted to provide extremely spacious and comfortable cottage accommodation for up to four people.

Sleeps 5. This delightful, former fisherman's cottage is situated at the heart of the attractive fishing village of Staithes. One of a row, this blue-coloured property boasts its own small garden and stands just 500 yards from the beach and a small, sheltered harbour - reached via the winding cobbled streets. Lying on the Heritage Coast in the North York Moors National Park, the extensive sandy beaches of Runswick Bay and Sandsend are within a short drive, while the busy fishing port of Whitby is only 10 miles away.
