The approach to the castle past the gatehouse and up the sweeping drive through the deer park arrives at the portico where guests are met in the turret lobby.

The library (suitable for functions and weddings), the private sitting room and private dining room, the drawing room and the dining room are all south facing and overlook the lake and deer park. The morning room and lower hall overlook the gatehouse and converted Georgian stables.

There is a spa integral to the hotel with 7 treatment rooms and a pre-bookable relaxation area with cedar hot tub and sauna. There is also a bar (formally the family museum), play area and a snooker and games room for the guests enjoyment and relaxation. The bedrooms, on first and second floors, are individually designed and decorated on the theme of a Yorkshire town, dale, castle, abbey or garden, according to the aspect of the room. For example, the Harrogate room faces south across the lake and deer park whilst the Richmond room faces east overlooking the gatehouse and driveway.

Six of the bedrooms are suites and the turret room is on three floors with a (steep!) staircase between. A lift serves both first and second floors. The Family Suite, Semerwater, offers an Earl’s category room with adjoining twin/double with a shower room.
