Christmas at Mompesson
Time Period: Georgian / Regency
Performer / Organiser: National Trust
Friday 21st November to Tuesday 23rd December, Friday – Tuesday, at Mompesson House, Cathedral Close, Salisbury, Wiltshire, SP1 2EL
Join us for a Regency Christmas and discover how the Portman family celebrated the festive season.
In the Regency era, Christmas celebrations stretched over a month, from Advent to Twelfth Night.
Each room showcases a different tradition of a Regency Christmas, including the season’s most anticipated event: the Twelfth Night Ball. The Dining Room will be decorated for a grand candlelit Christmas Day feast.
There will be lots of seasonal greenery throughout the house, including a magnificent garland around the oak staircase. Christmas trees will sparkle with glass baubles and unique paper decorations crafted by Mompesson volunteers.
