29th January 2023 in London: The Mall, Horse Guards, Whitehall

On 29th January 2023 the King’s Army of the English Civil War Society will march down the Mall in full funeral dress to mark the anniversary of King Charles I’s beheading outside Banqueting House.

At 11.25am the Army will start out from St. James’s Palace, down the Mall along the same route that Charles I walked on the 30th January 1649.

On reaching Horse Guards a religious drumhead service will be held. They will then march through the central arch and at 12.20pm will assemble opposite Banqueting House, where the king was beheaded on a scaffold.

The Army, drums beating and flags flying, will then return to St James’ Palace.
