Battle of Edgehill
Time Period: English Civil War
Performer / Organiser: The Sealed Knot
25th to 27th October 2019 at Kineton Sports & Social Club, Bridge Street, Little Kineton, Warwickshire CV35 0FA
The Sealed Knot returns to Little Kineton to mark the Battle of Edgehill.
The Battle of Edgehill took place on 23rd October 1642 and was the first major battle of the English Civil War between the forces of King Charles I and Parliament. Though both sides suffered terrible casualties, the battle was not decisive and the war continued for another three years.
Everyone is invited to join the Sealed Knot who will parade in full armour and costume to the battle monument on the B4086 on Sunday for a wreath-laying ceremony to remember all those who perished in the battle.
The Kineton Sports & Social Club will play host to a battle reenactment on both afternoons, as well as living history camps and displays, skirmishes, weapons and cavalry.
This is a FREE event.
