Commemoration of the Execution of King Charles I
Time Period: Stuarts
Performer / Organiser: King’s Army of the English Civil War Society
26th January 2020 at Whitehall, London
The King’s Army Annual March and Parade will follow the route taken by Charles I from St James Palace on the Mall to the place of his execution at the Banqueting House in Whitehall, London. The parade assembles from 11am outside St James Palace on The Mall and at 11.25am, marches down the Mall to form up on Horse Guards Parade, from where a wreath is carried across Whitehall and placed at the execution site. A short service follows.
The several hundred soldiers and camp followers of this modern recreation of the Royalist Army of the English Civil Wars are all volunteers and will be clothed and equipped the same as their forebears 370 years ago. A historical spectacular for all the family is guaranteed.
