Craig-y-Nos Castle stands in well kept grounds in the Upper Swansea Valley, 17 miles (27 Km) north of Junction 45 of the M4, on the A 4067 road to Sennybridge and Brecon. It is in Brecon Beacons National Park, an area of outstanding natural beauty.

It has been transformed into a quality hotel with accommodation and reception facilities for weddings and conferences.

With its stunning location and the carefully preserved ambience of a Welsh Castle, Craig-y-Nos offers visitors a unique  experience, whether it be just enjoying an overnight stay, or  as a guest at a major function. Live entertainment and banqueting facilities are available to complete the occasion.

The castle has several bars and comfortable lounges. Our dining and entertainment facilities cater for wedding and conference parties of all sizes. The Castle is licensed for civil weddings in both the opera house and the breakfast room. Drinks and refreshments are available throughout the day.

The Castle has lots of accommodation, with more being added all the time, as old rooms and buildings are refurbished. There are currently 16 en-suite rooms of various sizes and unusual shapes, including the Duplex and Bridal Suite. The bridal suite and other guest rooms are furnished in a traditional style in keeping with our heritage. This serves to enhance the experience of staying in a Welsh castle.

All the en-suite rooms are well appointed and some are 'luxury' rooms overlooking the courtyard or gardens. Some suites also have their own private lounge.

Having created a wider choice of rooms at different tariffs we are now able to suite most accommodation requirements.

There are also 10  'basic' doubles/twins, and one single room in a separate block adjoining the castle. This has a shared bathroom and shower room, plus kitchen and lounge. These rooms are ideal for groups, study groups, outward bound groups and parties wishing to have a self contained area.

A further 10 double rooms are in older parts of the castle. Some of these are quite old and unusual, including a few behind the castle's opera house. All are full of character.

In addition to all this we have  dormitory accommodation for up to 54 persons.

The Castle and surrounding park were the former estate of ADELINA PATTI the world famous opera singer who, at the turn of the twentieth century, was one of the Worlds most famous and highest paid entertainers. This remarkable lady entertained royalty, heads of state and many famous contemporaries at Craig-y-Nos. Today the memories of the lady herself and her momentous times are woven into the very fabric of the castle. Operas are staged in the Patti Theatre throughout the year.

Ghost Watch Tours:

Old castles with their links to the past often conjure up pictures of ghosts and paranormal events. Craig-y-Nos Castle is no exception and has established a reputation amongst "ghost watchers" who have experienced  the special aura which captivates all those who sense it.  As the former home of Opera Diva Adelina Patti who was embalmed in its cellars, and later as a T.B Hospital where many succumbed to their illness, the Castle has a rich history of both dramatic and tragic events. A number of television programs  have been made of the paranormal activities at Craig-y-Nos Castle and there has been so much interest from people wanting to experience them themselves that we now organise "Ghost Watch Tours". Participants can now record and share their experiences whilst staying in The Castle overnight.  More details on our website

The lovely setting of  Craig-y-Nos Castle makes it an ideal centre for artists. Painting Breaks and Holidays are a popular feature of our activity program.

Craig-y-Nos Castle is ideally located as a centre for walking and visiting the natural attractions of South Wales. Nestling amongst the serene hills of the Brecon Beacons National Park it is at the centre of an area which has been described by visitors as a walkers' paradise.
