Croeso - Welcome

The Lion Inn is set in the picturesque village of Gwytherin through which the River Cledwen flows. It is a quiet place, off the beaten track and a peaceful and pleasant environment for those looking for somewhere relaxing away from the pressures of today's hectic lifestyle.

Originally a row of small cottages dating back to the 17th Century, this cosy village watering hole re-opened its doors for locals and visitors alike on 18th June 2005 after extensive refurbishment. The interior is tastefully and stylishly decorated and furnished in neutral colours, which show off many of the buildings original features. The Lion Inn is just the place to break a journey and enjoy some excellent hospitality where all the family are welcome.

Dai Richardson and his wife Rose warmly welcome you to The Lion Inn, Gwytherin.

Accommodation. Available on the first floor of The Lion Inn are 5 cosy en-suite bedrooms. Each one has been beautifully and tastefully refurbished to a high standard complementing the character of this 16th Century Inn. No two rooms are identical, each has individual style and have been refurbished with home comforts; sumptuous beds with colourful, hand-woven, traditional Welsh throws.

Relax in comfort, listen to the birdsong and enjoy the gentle country quiet in this deeply rural spot. All of the bedrooms have a charming country outlook, with one room sporting its own balcony where guests can admire the view and watch the hares in the field and the Red Kites gliding aloft.

All the rooms have DVD players with free use of our extensive collection of films, tea and coffee making facilities and heated towel rails. The Lion Inn is the perfect destination for anyone who wants to find somewhere special for a weekend break, a night away or longer. Accommodation at The Lion Inn is available all year round.

Restaurant. Dine in our stylish, newly refurbished restaurant where both locals and visitors will receive a warm friendly welcome and excellent service from Rose and her team. Our resident Chef produces dishes cooked with imagination, talent and flair which are beautifully presented using fresh local Welsh produce. The Lion Inn Restaurant is a firm favourite for those who enjoy their food and also appreciate quality of both well-chosen ingredients and expert preparation.

‘We don’t serve fast food…….we serve fantastic food as fast as we can’!

The restaurant at the Lion Inn is a special place and well worth seeking out. It is ideal for that special romantic meal, birthday or anniversary celebration.

The restaurant can accommodate groups up to 28, making it an ideal venue for work functions and Christmas dinners. For larger parties we are happy to put the whole restaurant at your disposal.
