 ELIZABETH CASTLE
Stay in the
grounds of a beautiful castle cut off by the rising tides.
What could be better than to
watch the sun rise and set from the ramparts of your very own
castle? The castle is set on an islet ten minutes walk along a
causeway from West Park, St Helier.
A comfortable centrally heated apartment with large rooms has been
created from part of a granite building set in the parade ground of
the castle. The islet is surrounded by sea twice a day and
arrangements have been made to provide complimentary transport to
and from the islet from 9.30am (from mainland) to 5pm. Thereafter
transport can be arranged by boat at an additional cost.
During the
day it is open to the public and the black powder cannon is still
fired daily. The castle gardien is based on site, but after closing
you will have the key to the main gate and the castle is yours to
explore.
Due to the unique location of the castle, access can occasionally be
restricted by the tide and weather. The Amphibious vehicles will
operate at all times except when the tide is high and the wind is
strong creating a rough sea. If the wind is strong on the day of
your planned visit please telephone the Castle Ferry Kiosk to find
out opening times.
