Two
miles north of Haywards Heath, behind a 1,000 year
old box hedge, Copyhold Hollow nestles in the 1½
acre hollow that gives it its name. The 16th
Century, Grade II Listed House with later
additions was built before
Queen Elizabeth I came to the throne, on a site in
use since the Iron Age. The proprietor, Frances Druce, spent 3½ years restoring it and turning it
into the very comfortable home it is today.
The
enchanting cottage and woodland garden has been
mentioned in Garden News (November 2006) and The
English Garden Magazine (May 2007) and is open
under the National Garden Scheme.
There is abundant bird and wildlife in the garden
and surrounding countryside - designated an Area
of Outstanding Natural Beauty - all helping to
make Copyhold Hollow a haven for business people
and tourists alike.

Gardening Courses - Garden enthusiasts, both
novice and experienced, will gain inspiration from
our midweek gardening breaks. These 3 day / 4
night courses combine garden and nursery visits
with lectures and demonstrations from gardening
experts. Different themes are selected for each
course during the year to ensure that guests
experience maximum value from learning while
relaxing and enjoying a few days amongst fellow
enthusiasts.
Visits will be made to local private and heritage
gardens to illustrate the lectures and
demonstrations. The lead lecturer will be John
Marder. He has over 25 years experience as a
practitioner and lecturer in horticulture. See
www.copyholdhollow.co.uk for details.
