A very beautiful region of Scotland, steeped in history. The
many castles of this area stand testament to it's turbulent
past. By contrast, visit the four great Border abbeys of
Melrose, Kelso, Dryburgh and Jedburgh and experience the
sense of peace that still clings to these mellowed
ruins.
This
area of Scotland has many associations with Sir Walter
Scott. Scott's View of the Eildon Hills near Melrose,
and the 16th century Smailholm Tower, near Kelso, are two
examples. Scott spent his childhood nearby.
