Duisdale House Hotel
is a former hunting lodge set in the Garden of Skye, and was used by
the Clan Chief of The MacDonalds in days of old.
Located in the south of the island, the hotel commands stunning,
panoramic views overlooking the Sound of Sleat to the mainland
mountains and beyond. Once a grand Victorian lodge, it is undergoing
extensive refurbishment and when complete in early spring 2008, will
have a luxurious, contemporary feel which will blend seamlessly with
the historic building and gardens.
The hotel is set in 25 acres of ground which include gardens
abundant with mature shrubs, plants and ancient woodlands which
abound with wildlife. In the evenings the gardens are transformed
into an enchanted forest by the coloured lights which appear to set
the trees ablaze with colour. It is also magical on a moonlit night.
The elegant lounge with high ceilings and roaring log fire is
popular for relaxing at any time of day or night but particularly in
the evening after dinner when you can sit before the open fire
enjoying some fine wine or malt whisky whilst dreaming of tomorrow’s
adventures. Soak up the atmosphere of the dramatic decor as you sink
into the plush sofas.
A traditional full Scottish breakfast is included before you depart,
or why not try our house specialties of smoked haddock kedgeree or
fresh Mallaig kippers; a real treat.
