Exclusively yours...

Dundas Castle is one of Scotland's most beautiful and historic castles. Built in 1818 by the renowned Scottish architect, William Burn, the Castle is now the luxurious stately home of Sir Jack Stewart-Clark and his wife, Lady Lydia. The castle is available for exclusive hire and can be booked for a wide variety of events - weddings, conferences, business meetings, incentive travel group visits, private dinner parties, launch parties and receptions.

Secluded in the peaceful countryside of its own 1000 acre grounds, yet only 8 miles from Edinburgh, Dundas Castle offers all the comforts and high standards associated with the best of hotels. The difference is - when you choose Dundas for your special event, it belongs solely to you and your guests for the duration of your stay. No other visitors, no distractions, nowhere else could be more perfect for you.

History From the 12th Century onwards the Dundas Clan came to live along the southern shores of the River Forth. By the 15th Century the greater part of Linlithgowshire, now equivalent to West Lothian and the western part of Edinburgh, was owned or controlled by Dundas of that Ilk.

Members of the Dundas family have featured throughout Scottish history. Hugh Dundas served under William Wallace in the defence of his country. In 1416 James Dundas obtained a licence to build a Keep from the Duke of Albany, who was then effective ruler of Scotland.

Henry Dundas built the ‘modern’ castle in 1818. It replaced an earlier 17th Century building, which was pulled down. Sadly for the Dundas family, the building and the extensive gardens had cost so much to construct that the estate had to be sold in 1846.

Then in 1899 Stewart Clark, the Great Grandfather of the present owner Sir Jack Stewart-Clark, acquired Dundas Castle with five farms and 1500 acres of agricultural land. Stewart Clark was one of the Victorian titans of industry.

It was only when Sir Jack inherited Dundas Castle on the death of his mother, in 1995, that serious restoration of both the ‘Auld Keep’ and the Castle began. Dundas Castle is now fully restored to a Five Star Exclusive Use Venue that can be ‘Exclusively Yours’ for a wide variety of events.

Corporate Events Set deep in the heart of some of Scotland's loveliest countryside, yet only 8 miles from Edinburgh and 10 minutes from Edinburgh International Airport, Dundas Castle offers an exclusive retreat from the pressures of everyday life and a refreshing experience in one of Scotland’s most beautiful and historic castles. A true blend of grandeur, warmth and tranquillity.

The purpose built Beehive Boardroom (pictured) is one of the many locations for corporate events.  The Pavilion Marquee sits up to 200 for a dinner or a theatre style event.  The Library or Great Hall in the Auld Keep are some of the perfect locations for a more relaxed meeting or presentation.

There are a total of 10 breakout rooms with in the Castle, Pavilion and Auld Keep that can be tailored to meet many requirements.  In addition, with the fourteen luxurious bedrooms all with their own bathrooms, we can also welcome you to Dundas for a residential event.
