In a land of castles and country estates, what could be more perfect than a stay in an 18th century country castle? The original house was built in 1782 and enlarged in 1854 and is an excellent example
of Scottish Baronial style. Nestling in 4 acres of beautiful woodland
grounds overlooking the Royal and ancient town of Peebles, Castle Venlaw Hotel continues the country house tradition, bringing a perfect combination of relaxed informality and the elegance of another age.
You will find a warm welcome from owners John
and Shirley Sloggie whose combined wealth of experience in quality hotels ensures a perfect balance of professionalism and Scottish hospitality. Castle Venlaw offers 12 exceptionally spacious rooms
including 4 rooms with four poster beds. All the rooms have full en-suite facilities and are centrally heated with thermostatically controlled radiators, tea and coffee making facilities,
direct-dial telephone and remote control television with several
digital channels. The rooms all enjoy magnificent views. Our deluxe rooms are all much larger and provide even more
spectacular views. The triple room and four bedded room make the
hotel ideal for families or adults travelling together. Our two new
Romantic Suites have four poster beds, a luxury bathroom and an
additional Romantic Bathroom with double bath, heated tiles, fibre
optic lighting, CD player and a personal champagne cooler. Tucked away at the top of the tower is our family suite. All our rooms are named after malt whiskies and have a
miniature of the appropriate malt in a plaque in the door. Our guests can enjoy a visit to the Library where they will be able to sample the malt after which their room is named. Just one more way in
which Castle Venlaw Hotel is that special bit different... The Scottish Borders abounds with its own natural produce and our Chef,
David Harrison, uses local and Scottish
produce whenever he can. The restaurant is a magnificent room with high ornate ceilings, superb views and an original parquet floor, but whilst we have concentrated on style and elegance, we have also worked to retain an informal and friendly atmosphere.
The culinary expertise offered by our restaurant has recently been reflected by being awarded several high gradings. We have,
for the fifth year running, been recognised by the AA with
2 rosettes for our food. You need to taste to believe!
