Bed and Breakfast Accommodation STB 4 Stars

Enchanting Barcaldine Castle is Argyll's only ancient castle offering bed and breakfast accommodation. This 16th Century home of the Campbells of Barcaldine, located 9 miles north of Oban, has stacks of character and spectacular surroundings with views up Loch Creran to Glencoe. From the snow-capped mountains in early Spring to the golden colours of Autumn a memorable experience awaits you.

Our two guest bedrooms are comfortably and tastefully furnished with antiques and family memorabilia. Both are spacious and have heating (guest controlled, so you can be as warm or cool as you wish throughout the night), good quality king-size bed with electric blanket, DVD TV, hospitality trays with luxury Scottish biscuits and mineral water, soft fluffy towels, Molton Brown toiletries and local area information.

The Barcaldine room and en-suite bathroom with original roll-top Victorian bath. Views are of open countryside to the front of the castle.

The Breadalbane bedroom with a loch view now has a king size 4 poster bed and a smaller bed suitable for a child.  Private shower room adjoining the room.

Begin your day with a delicious Aga cooked Scottish Breakfast served in the ancient vaulted dining room.  We use the best produce with real meat sausages, no sliced bread and local farm eggs.

From October to the end of March, the colder and darker evenings when you may prefer not to go out, we offer a simple Tray Supper by the Parlour Fire from 6.30pm -8.30pm by arrangement.

Use of the cosy guest sitting room, the Laird's Parlour, with coal fire in winter.  Help yourself to sherry and chocolates.

Weddings: We are a licensed venue for civil marriage ceremonies (up to around 30 guests max.)
