Set high on Stan Hill surrounded by the South Downs in 35 acres of ancient wooded countryside, Stanhill Court Hotel was built as a family home originally, to the exacting requirements of Mr William Young, a Scottish landowner and marine underwriter with Lloyds of London.

The house, constructed in 1881 in the Scottish Baronial style is rich in the warmth of pitch pine panelling with elaborate carvings throughout the hall, minstrel's gallery and barrel roof enhanced by original stained glass windows depicting the family coat of arms, which set the scene for the many delights to be found within.

A feature of individually furnished bedrooms, many of which have 4 poster beds, all add to the charm of this delightful hotel that is still small enough to care. Our Restaurant 1881 is open to non residents for breakfast, lunch and dinner.

You may wish to enjoy a traditional afternoon tea in the Library, with far distant uninterrupted views, or The Patio Bar, which changes the scenery to a Spanish style courtyard.
