A.A. 3 Stars    2 Rosettes for Food.
Good Hotel Guide Country Hotel of the Year 2003.
Which? Hotel Guide Rural Retreat 2004

Built in 1845 of local stone, Pen-y-Dyffryn was originally constructed as a Georgian Rectory and is situated in glorious Shropshire/Welsh border hill country midway between Shrewsbury and Chester.

Set in 5 acres of grounds, with no passing traffic, this silver stone, Grade 2 listed building exudes its own special atmosphere of calm and tranquillity. The hotel has a spectacular setting on the last hill in Shropshire, serenely facing the Welsh mountains to the west, providing some of the finest sunsets you are ever likely to see. Sundowners are a must!

Whether you spend the day out walking in the hills or visiting some of the many nearby National Trust properties, dinner is a centrepiece of your stay at Pen-y-Dyffryn. Adventurous menus offer dishes using the finest fresh, sometimes organic, local ingredients and traditional English puddings are a speciality. The hotel has two Food Rosettes from the AA and the hotel is fully licensed and has an extensive wine list. In the cooler months, log fires burning in the two lounges help to create a cosy and “away-from-it-all” atmosphere

All the bedrooms have modern amenities, many have spa baths, and one has a double Jacuzzi. Four bedrooms have their own private patios. There is a ground floor room suitable for infirm guests with French windows onto the hotel terrace.

Pets welcome.
