Rowton Castle Hotel

A castle has stood in the grounds at Rowton for nearly 800 years.

A medieval castle stood on this site until Prince Llewellyn and the marauding Welsh destroyed it in 1463.The present castle was built for the pricey sum of £1000 in 1669 and was once the home of Baron Rowton who was Prime Minister Disraeli's secretary in late 19th Century. In 1941 it became the home of the Royal School for the Blind, the most famous of its students being David Blunkett, Minister of Education, but unfortunately after the college moved in 1978 the Castle fell into ruins. The present day castle has been totally refurbished and transformed into a prestigious hotel, which has the warmth, charm and ambiance of a Country House.

The castle boasts nineteen charming, individually designed bedrooms, six with period 4 poster beds! Each beautifully appointed bedroom has a fully equipped bathroom with bath and shower, television, direct dial telephone, complimentary wireless internet access and such thoughtful extras as trouser press, hairdryer, mineral water, and excellent beverage making facilities.

Personal service and attention to detail are hallmarks of Rowton Castle's excellent reputation and this is ably demonstrated in the Hotel's award winning Cedar Restaurant. Oak Panelling with 17th century carving, velvet armchairs and intimate lighting are a perfect backdrop to this fine dining experience.

Where better place to make your vows or to celebrate your marriage than in the romantic atmosphere of a fairytale castle.  Rowton Castle is the ideal venue for the most important occasion of your lives.  A perfect setting, coupled with excellent food and service, guarantee you and your guests a most memorable occasion whilst the picturesque gardens and lakes provide wonderful photographic opportunities to enjoy in the years ahead.

For a Conference, the hotel provides excellent facilities for 'day' or 'twenty four hour' delegate packages and each conference can be tailor made to suit your exact requirements; often utilising the hotels extensive grounds for team building activities. In all, the hotel has three sumptuously decorated, suitably equipped meeting rooms catering for two to eighty delegates.
