Ground floor: entrance hall leads to a large country kitchen/dining room. Living area with open fireplace (logs provided), secondary sitting room off the living area containing a sofabed (can accommodate fifth person).

TV (not satellite) and video player. The kitchen is well equipped with cooker, fridge/freezer, microwave, washing machine and dishwasher (dishwasher powder and washing up liquid supplied).

One double bedroom, one twin bedroom and separate bathroom, separate shower cubicle and separate WC/WB. Full oil-fired central heating throughout. Security alarm system.

Outside: the Water House has a private fenced, mature garden with wonderful views of the deer park and is approached by a quiet country lane.

The South Lodge - offers two bedroom / one bathroom / 1 shower room accommodation for up to 4 people

The South Lodge at Houghton is one of the pair of classic gate lodges at the splendid entrance gates to Houghton Hall. The entrance, however, is set back from a little-used quiet country road, approached from the main Fakenham-King’s Lynn road by a magnificent avenue of trees, and the main views from the Lodge and its private fenced garden are across the Houghton Hall deer park with its herd of graceful, and surprisingly tame, rare white fallow deer.

The white painted cottage has been completely redesigned, rebuilt and newly decorated over the summer of 2005 and stylishly fitted and furnished with a mix of Cholmondeley family furniture and carefully selected paints and fabrics. The result is a charming, comfortably cosy cottage with a spacious, light and airy kitchen and dining area with all amenities for a relaxing stay on this lovely Norfolk estate.

Ground floor: Entrance through porch, with washer/dryer installed, into brand new fitted kitchen with fridge/freezer, electric oven with 4 hobs, extractor hood, microwave and dishwasher. Dining table, chairs and dresser. Archway leads to attractive inner hall with a monk’s bench, plentiful hanging hooks for coats and large wardrobe for use by guests in the ground floor bedroom. Off the hall is the compact bathroom with bath, hand shower attachment, WC/WB. The hall then leads into the cosy sitting room with TV/DVD player, fireplace (logs provided) and desk. Off the sitting room is a twin bedded room with en suite shower/WC/WB.

First floor: A door in the sitting room opens to steep, narrow stairs (only 11!) to the delightful double bedroom, with large wardrobe and dressing table, which looks across to the twin lodge at the north side of the entrance gates. The whole cottage has oil fired central heating.

The garden contains a wrought iron table and chairs and there is a barbecue for summer use.
