Summary
Description
Torrisdale Castle Estate extends to around 1,500 acres and is located on Kintyre's east coast, with fabulous views across the Kilbrannan Sound to the island of Arran. Warmed by the Gulf Stream and set within magnificent wooded grounds, Torrisdale provides an excellent base to explore a very beautiful and unspoilt part of Scotland's west coast.
Within the ground floor of the castle are three spacious self-catering apartments and set within the peaceful wooded grounds are a further four superb cottages and houses.
South Lodge
South Lodge is the smallest property available to rent and is situated at the main gates of the estate. The large feature window in the living room provides superb views towards the Kilbrannan Sound and the Isle of Arran, with a small sandy beach located across the quiet public road. A secluded garden lies adjacent to the cottage, next to the burn that leads to the sea. £190 to £290 per week.
Garden Cottage
Garden Cottage is a real gem. Situated on a wooded hillside overlooking the former walled garden, the property was fully refurbished in 2011 and comprises a large double bedroom, bathroom with shower and bath, a comfortable sitting room/dining room, and a separate kitchen. With timber lined walls, working shutters, a feature fireplace with log burning stove, and insulated to the highest level, this cottage offers year round accommodation and is the ideal romantic hideaway. £210 to £330 per week.
Glen House
Glen House is a former crofter's house and is located further into the estate, in a secluded setting with excellent views of the surrounding hills. On the ground floor there is a double bedroom, open plan sitting room/dining room/ kitchen, bathroom and separate WC. Upstairs there are 2 bedrooms - a twin room and a large family room with 3 single beds. An open fire in the living room adds to the rural charm of this fantastic holiday home. £340 to £500 per week.
Lephincorrach Farmhouse
Lephincorrach is the former estate farmhouse and its size makes it ideal for large families or two families holidaying together. With working shutters in four of the rooms downstairs, a large stove in the living room, 1/2 metre of insulation and a new super-efficient hot water system, the house also has fantastic 'green' credentials. The house has 5 bedrooms - 2 double rooms, a room with full-sized single bunk beds, and 2 twin bedded rooms upstairs. There is a large breakfasting kitchen with adjoining dining room, sitting room, bathroom with bath and electric shower, shower room and separate WC. A large enclosed garden to the front of the property is ideal for ball games or simply to sit in and enjoy the wonderful scenery. £410 to £580 per week.
Castle Apartments
In the mid-80s the ground floor of the castle was converted into three very comfortable and spacious self-catering apartments, all looking out over the castle lawns with beautiful sea views. The apartments sleep between 4 and 6 people and, as you would expect, all have large rooms which are ideal for children to play in on rainy days. £310 to £470 per week

Attractions nearby: Torrisdale Estate has its own sandy beach and there are lots of walks on the 1500 acres of the Torrisdale Estate. For golfers there is a challenging and very "tricky" 9 hole course at Carradale (we give 2 free rounds per holiday except in July & August for this) About 2 miles away is the attractive fishing village of Carradale, which has a Post Office, several shops, bars and restaurants. There is also a Heritage Centre which has some very interesting displays, activities for children and a very good tea-room. Boating and fishing are available |
