The Old Lockup is situated in the picturesque Derbyshire Dales market town of Wirksworth, on the edge of the Peak District National Park. It is an ideal location for exploring the unique landscape of the Derbyshire countryside, walking or cycling the High Peak Trail, or enjoying the many watersports on offer at nearby Carsington Reservoir.
An unusual, quirky but luxurious guest house, it was originally built in 1842 as a magistrate's house it then became the local police station. Now is is a distinctly different place to stay, a historic building with unique character.
The Old Lockup has been sensitively refurbished to combine its historic original features with modern convenience. Its four spacious en-suite bedrooms are individually styled and furnished, complete with everything needed for a comfortable stay.
An extensive breakfast menu offers something for everyone, special dietary requirements are catered for and evening meals are available allowing guests to do nothing but soak up the atmosphere. Eating out is easy too with a range of restaurants and pubs just a few minutes walk away.
The Old Lockup also provides guests with a free private car park, complementary WiFi access, guest lounge with open fire. There are bookshelves in most of the rooms with a selection of good reads and The Lockup is fully licensed.
