Summary

Sleeps 20+. Polhawn Fort is a superb wedding venue and accommodation venue situated in a historic fort in Cornwall.

Description

Sleeps 20+ persons

For many years now, Polhawn Fort has been an extraordinary and fascinating Cornish family home. Hidden away in a corner of the famous Rame Head Peninsula - loved, respected and feared by mariners since the days of Sir Francis Drake - the Fort has lain at the end of its own half mile drive, untouched by the ravages of civilisation.

The Fort was originally built in the 1860s as part of the widespread defences of the critically important Naval base at Plymouth. Polhawn Fort is one of a number of Forts known as Napoleonic Forts: they were also somewhat fondly known as Palmerston's Follies, since they were never used in action.

The Fort, a Grade II listed building, has many interesting features, including spiral staircases that appear to wind down in the wrong direction, a working drawbridge, genuine cannon, etc.

After lowering the draw-bridge and entering the Fort you will find...

* Grand arched and vaulted entertaining room approx. 25m long (80ft imperial), comprising four of the original 64lb canon casemates.

* 2 grand Master Bedrooms (Emperors' suites), each a full canon casemate.

* 4 double bedrooms (2 Admirals' rooms with extra beds, 2 Captains' rooms).

* 2 single bedrooms (Cabin boys' rooms) sharing a non en-suite bathroom.

* All rooms (except the kitchen) face the sea.

* All Master and Double Bedrooms have fully tiled en-suite bathrooms. 5 of the bathrooms have bidets and corner baths. High quality bed linen (Duvets) and bath and hand towels supplied for 20 persons as required.

* Fully equipped light commercial kitchen. Washing machine, tumble drier, ice machine, wine cooler cabinet.

* Large open fire, piano, all weather tennis court, private beach, croquet lawn. A range of cuisine, from breakfasts to banquets, is available.

Weddings at Polhawn Fort are spectacular, unique and always quite unforgettable. The Fort is provided in a different way from hotels and other venues, so that you can have a truly wonderful day arranged just the way you - yourselves - want it.

We have always held wedding receptions here, but now you can get married here too! (Under our Civil Marriage Licence) and keep it all under the same roof.

Large enough for escapism, small enough for intimacy - let the Fort be your choice for the most romantic wedding setting you can imagine!

Set in a designated Area of Outstanding Natural Beauty and Heritage Coastline on the Rame Peninsula, the area is also an ideal location for Team Building and Training Courses.
