A choice of three cottages within the estate of Haughton Castle

There are three separate cottages available on the Haughton Castle Estate all situated close to each other. The Lodge and Garden Cottage changeover on a Friday and the Farm House on a Saturday. Haughton Castle, a Grade I listed building, dates from the peaceful era of 1260. The castle is beautifully located with parkland on one side and spectacular views across farmland with the North Tyne River below. Visitors to the cottages may walk on the estate land and particularly along the two miles of the quite beautiful North Tyne, which is part of the estate. There is a tennis court available by arrangement with the owner.

Haughton Lodge: 2 bedrooms/1 bathroom with an option to book as a 1 bedroom/1 bathroom cottage – sleeps up to 4.

Garden Cottage: 2 bedrooms/2 bathrooms cottage with an option to book as a 1 bedroom/ bathroom cottage – sleeps up to 4.

Haughton Castle Farm House: 3 bedrooms/2 bathrooms cottage with an option to book as a 2 bedroom/2 bathroom cottage – sleeps up to 6.

Haughton Lodge

The centrally heated Haughton Castle Lodge, situated just inside the gateway to the drive leading to the castle, is an attractive, single storey stone building with a pleasing outlook. It is sheltered and screened by the high stone Park wall and has a sunny garden and lawn (not enclosed), and a paved barbeque/sitting area on one side.

Garden Cottage

Garden Cottage is a very attractive single story house at the foot of the slope up to the Castle battlements and about 100 yards from the banks of the River North Tyne, with access to river bank footpaths. The classical brick building once housing the Napoleonic Wars French forgery lofts is nearby. The cottage, with a traditional garden, was completely renovated to a high specification in 2010. It is now an exceptionally comfortable house, equipped to a very high standard.

The Farm House

Haughton Castle Farm House is situated upriver on a very small, quiet public lane approximately half a mile from the entrance to Haughton Castle. It has an elevated position approx 40 metres from the River Tyne. The attractive stone Farm House has lovely views over pastures and woodland down to the river and is centrally heated throughout. The lawned garden area has garden furniture, a barbeque and overlooks fields where sheep and Clydesdale horses will usually be seen grazing. There is a second small yard on the other side of the house with loose box which sometimes contains a horse.
