Great Selson Manor is a Grade 2* listed former manor house set in 3 acres of orchards fields and formal gardens. Situated on a very quiet single track lane, just outside Sandwich in Kent, it is an oasis of peace and quiet – our guests invariably get a very sound nights sleep! The house has late medieval origins but was extensively rebuilt to a Dutch or Flemish design at the end of the 17th century. It is packed with period features including a locally famous oak staircase (pictured) extending 2 floors.
Guests are welcome to relax in the elegant drawing room or pick up a book in our atmospheric period library. The guest rooms all have super king size beds for a relaxing nights sleep, together with en-suite bathrooms with rolltop baths for a refreshing and relaxing bathing experience. Outside, the gardens feature formal walkways, yew hedges and the new project – the sunken garden ! We grow our own vegetables and have our own sheep and hens. Breakfasts are graced with our own eggs, locally sourced free range sausages, and an award winning apple juice from the farm next door.
Graham and Yolanda have spent 5 years nurturing the old Manor which is very convenient for visiting the medieval town of Sandwich, Georgian Deal and Dover with its mighty Castle. Nearby is Canterbury and the famous Cathedral. Yolanda is an accomplished designer and Graham is an Emmy winning documentary filmmaker with many BBC historical documentaries to his name including Films on Canterbury Cathedral and the Dover Bronze Age Boat.
We will both make you more than welcome at Great Selson Manor.
